What an exciting year this has been. Karina and Mathew have
purchased our home and have graciously offered Marg
and I to live under the same roof so we have all been very busy building an
addition [the Hobbit apartment] and renovating our new living quarters plus
building a brand new 572 square foot shop in the "back 40".
Soon our family will have four
generations under one roof when Marg's
Mom, Peggy, comes to visit. Peggy has also experienced an
exciting year having decided to sell her home in Deep River and move to Kelowna to live about 10
minutes walking distance away from us. A huge change for her not only in living
space but climate wise, diet, making new friends and.... well you get the idea,
staring a brand new life at 94.
To make
this year more exciting is the spring arrival of Karina and Matt's first baby,
our first grandchild and Peggy's first great-grandchild. Will it be a boy or a
girl, a surprise until the end?
Jenica is
still living in Lund, Sweden and enjoyed some visits this
past autumn from friends, including a visit from Karina and Matt, who were
visiting for two weeks (Marg was
here in May). Jenica is currently working on her Masters in Development Studies
at Lund University
and is in a one-year program in International Migration at Malmo University.
She'll be home this winter for Christmas and is looking forward to reading
fiction and spending some days at the ski hill and getting together with old
friends at home.
Our boy,
Gregory, will graduate from BCIT in 2010 with two diplomas. One in electrical
engineering automation and instrumentation as well as one in electrical power
engineering and will be searching for a new career in the summer. He is still
living with 11 roommates at his residence house in Burnaby and is not sure where he'll end up
after school is over with. Although he is looking forward to finally making
some real money!
Marg and I continue to enjoy retired life and all
the “trimmings” of course and 2009 has been especially exciting renovating the
old computer room into our new bath room and kitchen, deciding on fixtures,
wall colouring, flooring, stove, frig, etc etc.
One sad
note during this past year was having to say good-bye to our feline friend,
Tina, who had been with us since Edelweiss days.
The Rocky
Mountain Friskies wish all of you a wonderful Christmas season and a healthy,
prosperous 2010.
